The Gambia Cricket Association in collaboration with the International Cricket Council and Africa Cricket Association will organise, for the first time, an "elite academy" for national team players for the both senior and junior teams in The Gambia.

The course will take the participants through the core areas of the game, and also help them improve in their areas of weakness. The training, which will be in two phases, will also involve mental preparation and acquisition of new skills in cricket. The first phase of the course will run from October 12 to October 15, while the second phase will is scheduled between October 16 to October 17.

Mr Olisa Egwuatu, an ICC "Level III" coach, from Nigeria, will serve as the course instructor and he will be assisted Mr Johnny Gomez, president of The Gambia Cricket Association.

Meanhile, The Gambia U-17 cricket team have commenced collective training at the July 22nd Square, ahead of the ICC/ ACA Under 17 regional competition scheduled for November in Lagos, Nigeria.
