Parks and Wildlife training wraps up

The Department of Parks and Wildlife Management yesterday held a one day National stakeholders training on the need and use of tracking tool of the project titled: supporting Gambia action for CBD programme of work on protected areas, at the BO Semega Janneh Hall in Kanifing.

The training was meant to sensitise participants on the used of protected area management effectiveness tracking tool and and the already protected areas in The Gambia

Declaring the training open, Alhagie Manja, senior wildlife conservation officers said protected area administer the tracking tool to ensure that all protected areas are well controlled and managed. According to him, this will also assist the country to fulfilled its obligation under the Biological Diversity Convention which The Gambia government signed in 1994. 

He then observed that the training will greatly assist the project area officers and other stakeholders representation to have understanding of the tracking tool and to assist them to recognised the relevant of tracking tool to national biodiversity conversation effort in general.
