Africell to ferry 300 Gambian fans to Dakar

Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, October 08, 2008

Africell company, one of the leading GSM operators in the country and the main partner of The Gambia Football Association has offered to transport 300 (three hundred) Gambian fans to cheer up the Scorpions during their World Cup and Nations Cup qualifier match against Terenga Lions on Saturday.

Seedy Kinteh, president of the Gambia Football Association, told Observer Sports that the popular GSM company will shoulder both the transport and ticket costs of the travelling fans.

The package, which will be dominated by the members of the Scorpions fan club will also include 150 Kabakel group members, 10 sports journalists, members of the GFA staff, veteran footballers, amongst other stakeholders.

Already, an advance team, among them the president of the Scorpions fan club, Bai Cham, have arrived in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, to prepare the ground for the safe arrival of the fans on Friday.

The Gambia currently lie second in Group Six table and they only need to avoid a defeat against their perennial rivals in the weekend to stand any change of progressing to the next phase of the combined qualifiers.
