The Gambia Football Association has drafted in local coaches Alagie Sarr and Pa Suwareh Faye to lead the Gambia Under 20 side to the maiden West Africa Football Union (Wafu) tournament scheduled to take place in Nigeria later this month.

Seedy Kinteh, the president of The Gambia Football Association confirmed the selection of two divisional coaches to guide the Gambian youth team that recently crashed out of the qualifiers for the 2009 African Youth Championship in Rwanda under tutelage of coach Lamin Sarr.

The GFA boss however, fell short of stating who between the two will be the head coach.
The drawing of teams for the 14-team sub regional tournament, which was held on Wednesday, saw The Gambia pitted against archrivals Senegal, Ghana and Guinea in Group D.

The grouping will afford the Darling Scorpions the chance to avenge their Rwanda qualifiers back-to-back defeat by the Ghana Black Satellites who are using the Wafu competition to prepare for next year's Rwanda finals.

The Wafu competition, which is scheduled from November 28 to December 7, would also see hosts, Nigeria who are paired in Group A alongside Togo, Benin and Guinea Bissau.

Group C consist of Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone and Mauritania whilst Mali, Cape Verde, Niger and Liberia make up Group D.

According to the competition rules, the first two clubs from each group after the round robin will progress to the quarterfinals, with the winners advancing to the semi final stage.

The final and third place match comes off on December 7.
