-Suspect in police net

Information reaching the Daily Observer reveals that over 30 Solar panels were stolen in Jamali Musa Village in Sami District, Central River Region (CRR). The thieves were said to have stroked on Sunday night, October 26.

'The solar panels were fixed at the village borehole which used to serve the women gardeners as well as cattle in the area,' our sources revealed.

This development, according to the source, has caused a great lose and damage to the residents of the village as they use the borehole for many domestic purposes.

Meanwhile, sources also disclosed to the Daily Observer that one Morr Jimbala, a native of Kataba Village in CRR, was arrested by the Police Intervention Unit (PIU), last week, reportedly in connection to the solar panel theft case. 'He was interrogated at the PIU Barracks and later transferred to Bansang Police Station, where he is still under detention,' our source further revealed.

In an interview with the Daily Observer, Musa Samura, the Ward Councillor for the area, said the borehole was funded by department of Livestock Services. "Theft of solar panels is becoming a rampant phenomenon in the Central River Region, particularly in CRR North, Mr Samura said, adding that just recently, sixteen solar panels were stolen at Barajally Village, two were also stolen at Kunting Village, one in Janjangbureh and, recently, in Jamali Musa Village."

He attributed the cowardly act to the lack of security, urging for institution of night watchmen for the safety of the solar panels.

Madam Isatou Bah, a concerned citizen, observed that the solar panels had anti theft screw which made it difficult to remove. She said that the matter had already been reported to the Police.

When contacted, the police spokesperson, ASP Sulayman Secka, confirmed the story.
