Healing Hands International in USA, in collaboration with Church of Christ The Gambia, last Thursday organised a three-day training of trainers workshop on food security and drip irrigation technology for 24 members of the Bakau women's Garden at Mile 7.

The training  held from the 14th  to 16th February, 2008, was aimed at enhancing the production capacity of the local farmers by introducing a drip Irrigation technology.

Speaking at the occasion, Isaac K Daye a representative of Healing Hands International said  his organisation is a humanitarian organisation  that helps local farmers  by teaching  them new farming methods to boost their production capacity. "This will help local farmers to adopt farming techniques for maximum out put and food security.We are trying  to explore the opportunity to expand the programme  across the country", he said.

He  revealed they have organised similar training in Mali, Burkina Faso and Cameroon and  called on participants to utilised the knowledge acquired during the training and disseminate it to others.

Binta Jammeh, a participant, in her vote of thanks applauded the organisers  derscribing the  training  as important . She then expressed optimism that the knowledge would be effectively used as expected.
