UTG Science Club ends Dakar visit

africa » gambia
Friday, February 22, 2008

At least, 28 students, one lecturer and a driver from the University of The Gambia (UTG) Science Club, on sunday concluded a four days study tour to Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal.

Their four days stay was characterised by visits to various pure science laboratories, which gave them the chance to acquaint themselves with facilities they do not have access to back home.

Speaking to Young Observer's Anchorman, Demba NA Trawally, President of UTG Science Club, said the visit was fruithful as they have learnt a lot about their Science subjects.

"We learnt a lot about Chemistry, and we visited the analytical,  organic, food analysis, aquaculture and fisheries labs and we had practical sessions where demonstrations and explanations were made", Mr Trawally explained.

He revealed that the UTG Science Club established link with the Cheikh Anta Diop University Science Club, and that the Cheikh Anta Diop University Science Club students visited the UTG in 2006, as part of their bi-annual exchange programme.

He thanked their counterparts for the warm and friendly welcome given to them during their stay in Dakar, Senegal.
