A team of medical doctors and nurses from the US, including a Taiwanese cardiologist, Dr David Huang will arrive in Banjul tomorrow to under take series of operations at the Jammeh Foundation for Peace (JFP) Hospital.

Confirming this in an exclusive interview with the Daily Observer, Dr Abraham Alabi of MRC in Fajara, told the Daily Observer that another group of doctors from PROHEALTH, a health NGO based in Nigeria, will arrive on the same day to jointly administer free health-care services from Monday to Friday.

Dr Alabi, who is a member of the organising committee (comprising Haggai Institute Alumni Association and Youth With A Mission), said the group will work with the medical doctors and nurses at JFP Hospital to provide the services, especially in the areas of eye problems, dental care, and general medicine.

He added that the group, as they did in 2006, will paint a number of police stations as part of their community work, as well as present gifts to 16 schools in the country. He disclosed that 15 pace-makers worth US$200,000 and a cough machine valued at US$5,000 will be donated to RVTH.

"We also hope  conduct some cardiac operations and we encourage patients to come forward for consultations," Dr Alabi said, encouraging the public to make best use of the opportunity.
