Monday, March 10, 2008
The Confederation of African Football (CAF), have made an amendment to the African Nations Championship fixtures with the inclusion of The Gambia Scorpions, Observer Sports can reveal.

After writing to CAF for an explanation on the Scorpions exclusion from the new competition for home-based players only, The Gambia, alongside nine other nations, have been included after the establishment of the fixtures of the competition on February 24th 2008.

A press release pasted last night on the CAF official website reads: " The CAF Executive Committee registered the request for participation past-deadline of Ten national associations wishing to take part at the competition, after the establishment of the fixtures of the Competitions on February 24th 2008.

Faced with this eagerness and seeing that this is a new competition, CAF Executive Committee decided, exceptionally, to accept these 10 engagements and authorized CAF Secretariat to amend the fixtures accordingly."

"The Ten national Associations are :. Gambia from Zone west A , Ghana and Togo from Zone West B, Kenya and Eritrea from the Central East Zone, and from the Southern Zone : Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe."

Soldiers hit two to lead the table

Armed Forces beat their fellow security men Interior FC 2-0 in their last night encounter played at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium. The victory saw Armed Forces host Samger, who lost to GPA on the same night, at the top of the league table.

Armed Forces' Omar Sanyang was last night's goal hero after he scored one goal in each half to earn the soldiers their third win in three matches.

Elsewhere, Gamtel managed a 1-0 win over Wallidan at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium to better their position of the table.
