3 dead, 4 hospitalised, as another lorry ploughs into the back of a Gele-Gele
Three passengers were reported dead on the spot in a fatal car accident that occurred in Baddibou Gunjur along the Farrafenni-Barra highway in the North Bank Region on Friday afternoon.

According to an  eye witness account, a 22 passenger Gele-Gele loaded with passengers heading for a naming ceremony was knocked at the back by a lorry killing 3 on the spot, leaving 19 passengers seriously injured.

According to sources from the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital, 16 people were rushed to the RVTH Emergency and Accident Unit. The injured were received on arrival by highly competent team of doctors and nurses who were on full gears waiting for the  victims following a tip-off of the accident led by the Chief Medical director, Dr Mariatou Jallow and Dr Tamsir Mbowe, director of health services.

Dr Mariatou Jallow told newsmen that they got a telephone call on the accident and soon after that, they assembled doctors to take care of the victims. According to her, 16 victims have been hospitalised. She thanked the team of doctors for leaving no stone unturn in making sure that the injured are taken care of.

Dr Tamsir Mbowe who was also at the RVTH at that material time, lauded the efforts of the chief medical director, Dr Mariatou Jallow for a job well done. "Thanked God, there was no no blood shortage as everything was in place" he said. He said the 16 admitted are been manage by the doctors.

Before going to press last night, Dr Tamsir Mbowe confirmed to the Daily Observer that 12 victims were release after various types of treatments but four are still at the RVTH, of whom one is at the Intensive Care Unit All responding to treatment.
