Manjai police should explain

africa » gambia
Monday, March 03, 2008
Editor,

Please allow me space to convey my feelings of disappointment about the police in Manjai on their negligible attitude on the issue of our environment. We have had to endure great sufferings throughout the days of that indiscriminate dumping, but thanks to the steadfastness of the NEA, we have been getting fresh air to breath. Great effort, time and money have been spent on it.

But bent on ensuring the continuation of the old routine, dishonest people continue to dump at unauthorized places. On Sunday two people were caught on this dastardly act, arrested and taken to the Manjai police station. The police, for some reason, released these criminals even before the Municipal police that arrested them got home.

My question is, will this not serve as encouragement for others to continue the indiscriminate dumping? This is what I want the police at Manjai Police Station to answer.
