Two Nigerians charged with drug trafficking

Two Nigerian youths were last Thursday arraigned before senior Magistrate EF M'Bai of the Brikama Magistrates charged with intending to traffic eighty-two pellets of cocaine weighing 1kg, 100mg.

Lawrence Nwachuku and Ofolin Sunday, both Nigerians, were arrested at the Banjul international Airport after a prohibited drug, cocaine, was detected on them.

Lawrence was suspected of swallowing eighty-two pellets of cocaine weighing 1kg, 100mg and was arrested on the spot.

When the charge was read to Lawrence Nwachuku, he pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him .

Senior Magistrate M'Bai then adjourned the case to March 6 for continuation and also ruled that the accused be remanded in custody.

Ofolin Sunday was also said to have been arrested on the 21st November last year at the Banjul international Airport when 800g of cocaine was found in his possession. He also denied the charge leveled against him. Magistrate M'Bai adjourned the case for continuation. He also ruled that the accused Ofolin Sunday to be remanded in custody.
