Operation keep GTTI clean conductedTuesday, April 01, 2008 The student executive of the Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI) under the leadership of their president, Morr B. Ceesay, last Saturday 22nd March, 2008, responded to the director's call for the collective and proper up-keep of the institute's environment through proper waste management collection and disposal. Several students and members of staff converged at the main campus to give the institute a facelife. Within a short period, the entire complex of the institute was thoroughly cleaned and all the three trunks and edges of the walkways painted. In her word of appreciation the director of the school, Madam Fatou Mbye, thanked the students for the large turn out and commended them for a job well done. She expressed hope that the exercise would always take place once every month in addition to that of the national monthly set-setal. According to her, "responding to the clarion-call of President Jammeh for Operation-Clean-the-nation is incumbent on every Gambian to show a sign of commitment by contributing a quota, first by keeping our homes clean followed by our immediate environments, communities and so on." Madam Mbye further reminded all to always remember to put any litter that might come their way into the nearest dust bin. "The more we feed the dust bins with litter, the easier it is for the KMC trash collectors to collect it and on a regular basis, thereby providing a healthy and conducive environment for learning" she said. She then reminded the participants about the Anti-littering legislation signed into law by President Jammeh in June 2007 and urged them to keep the environment clean.
