Bakau Utd end winless run

africa » gambia » serrekunda east
Wednesday, April 02, 2008
The embattled Bakau United side have ended their winless run of form in the Division One league season with a narrow, but a much-needed 1-0 win over fellow strugglers, Gamtel, at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium on Monday.

The solitary goal victory saw Bakau United fetch their first three points in eight league matches and effectively leap from the bottom table to ninth position with seven points.

Elsewhere on the same day, Wallidan beat Sait Matty-Africell 1-0 to close in on front-runners, while Steve Biko and Armed Forces shared the spoils after a goalless draw at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium.

Week Ten fixtures will resume today with Armed Forces taking on Gamtel at the Independence Stadium, whilst Bakau United face Hawks at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.

In another Week Ten encounter today, Interior will take on Ports Authority at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium as the former still look for their first win of the season.
