In their strong commitment towards the humanitarian needs of The Gambian people, the foundation "Give Gambia a future", a charitable organisation based in Holland on Thursday March 17th, donated a modern scientific Topcon Variable Angle Retrial Camera worth over forty thousand Euros to the Sheikh Zayeh Regional Eye Care Centre, at a presentation ceremony held at the centre in Kanifing.

The Topcon eye camera, according to officials at the foundation, is use on various eye photographing such as retinal photography, colour retinal photography, fluorescien photography, photography with pertinent optional filters and stereo photography amongst others.

Presenting the device, Henny Goedheart, president of the foundation said the gesture is meant to extent her organizations humanitarian assistance to the people of The Gambia and the entire sub-region. According to her, the gesture is also meant to strengthen the strong existing relations between the foundation and the hospitable Gambian people.

Madam Goedheart then commended Professor Degogong of the Medical Centre in Amsterdam for providing the equipment. This she said, will go a long way in boosting the eye care delivery system of the Sheikh Zayeh Regional Eye Care Centre.

Receiving the device on behalf of the Sheikh Zayeh Regional Eye Care Centre, Cato Kejera, Matron of the Centre, hailed the foundation for the strong concern to patients with eye defection, noting that, the gesture could not have come at a better moment than now when most patients reported to the eye clinic with retinal eye defections. She noted that such a modern device at the centre will help identify easily problems affecting patient's eyes for possible treatment.

While commending the donors for their magnificent gesture, Matron Kejera noted that the device will not only help the Gambians but the entire sub-region as the center is a regional eye care center.

For his part Bakary B. Darboe, a facilitator at the foundation, launded his Neitherland counterparts for complementing the already existing developmental efforts President Yahya Jammeh. According to him, the foundation over the past few years, registered teremendous successes, notably the construction of a primary school and irrigation project in Banyaka village, the construction of a modern library at Old Bakau as well as the ongoing construction of a modern skill centre in Bakau Newtown.

Mr Darboe then expressed hope that through support and partnership, more projects may be realised.

Luntang Jaiteh, Alkalo of Bakau, hailed the donors for their concern towards the welfare of Gambians, noting that the foundation's massive infrastructural development in the country cannot be over-emphsised.

Aja Fatou Fullanfing Nyang- Baloow Ceesay, Lady Councilor of the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) also commended the donors for such a gesture. She commended their Gambian counterparts, Bakary B. darboe, whom she described as a patriotic Gambian working for the interest of the citizenry.
