Friday, April 25, 2008
Fandema Kafo, a local community base organisation, over the weekend organised a two-day sensitization workshop, held at Kalabatang Nursery School in Sukuta Nema.

During the sessions, members of the organisation brainstormed on various presentation by resource persons, which centred around HIV-AIDS, child right, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, crime prevention, gender, democracy, equality, children and the media.

Fatou Faye, President of the Fandema Kafo, in declaring the workshop open, hailed the efforts of the organisation in the course of the past year's. She stated that  the organisation's groomed children football team and drama group were playing an important role towards the organisation's aims and objectives.

Moriba Suso, secretary general of the organisation, in his welcoming address said his organisation, which consisted of children aged between 6 and 25, was formed in Bundung Borehole and was registered in August 2005 as a youth kafo.

According to him, the organisation was established to put youths on the right course through  sports, drama and other activities. Commenting on the significance of the gathering, Mr Suso noted that it would help members to share ideas and learn new things to be discussed.

He called on donors to assist the Kafo to realise their dreams.  Mariam Kuyateh, a member of the Kafo, who gave the vote of thanks , applauded the leaders of the Kafo for their tireless efforts and generosity towards the organisation.
