Malang Jassy, former assistant director of youths at the department of state for youth and sports, has now been appointed as the Director of Youths and Sports, replacing Mr Sait Mbaye, whose contract has expired, Daily Observer can reveal.

Mr Jassy received his appointment letter last Tuesday, but it was dated March 19th, 2008.

When contacted to shed light on his appointment, Malang Jassy, confirmed his appointment, adding that his first priority is to embark on a restructuring programme. He also highlighted his intention to collaborate with all stakeholders in youth and sports development.

Mr Jassey then called on all Gambians to support his ambition of seeing young people realised their potentials and to contribute to national development and the achievement of vision 2020.

Mr Jassy has been working with the department of state for youth and sport since 1994.

Meanwhile Abdoulie M. Kah the former Assistant Director of Sports has also been appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Department of State for Youth and Sports.
