Hamat Bah HAMMERED! As President warns potential destabilizers

President Jammeh has warned Hamat Bah, the leader of the opposition National Reconciliation Party (NRP), that he (Jammeh) would never again allow politics of sectionalism which was peddled by the former Upper Saloum parliamentarian in the country's political arena. Jammeh warned that such politics of divide and rule instigates conflict in the country.

The Gambian leader gave this warning on Sunday during a visit at the D7.4 million Katamina water tank project in Niamina West, Central River Region (CRR).

The president clarified that he did hold no hatred for any opposition, but contended that he would only accept an opposition that was ready to work for national interest.

"I will not allow any opposition that agitates political conflict or tribalism in this country. Any opposition party that is found meddling in such forms of politics would live to regret it. I don't give a damn about what the international world say. The UDP or any other political party cannot use politics only to destroy the country. So if this is what they mean as democracy, I will not and will never allow this type of democracy in this country," he emphasised.

President Jammeh then exposed the activities of Hamat Bah in Nigeria, when he (Hanmat Bah) had told the people there that "Fulas voted for him and that himself (Hamat) and Jammeh had agreed that Jammeh should rule the country for two years during the transition and five years in the civilian administration, after which he (Hamat) would take over to ensure that each tribe rules. He said the Mandinkas were the first to lead, now the Jolas and next the Fulas." Jammeh described this as untrue.

In another engagement, President Jammeh also presided over a meeting in Jarra Soma, Lower River Region (LRR), where he reiterated his back to the land call and clearly noted that the government could not employ everybody.

Yankuba Touray, the secretary of state for Fisheries and Water Resources, praised the people of the region for voting for the APRC in the last elections.

Momodou Soma Jobe, the governor LRR, assured the president of his region's support.

Other speakers included Alhaji Yahya Jarjusey, the chief of Jarra West, Aji Fatou Njie, a women mobiliser and Seedy Cham, the divisional chairman of APRC.
