Egyptian doctor testifies in murder case As prosection closes its case

Inspector Samateh, a police prosecution officer in the ongoing murder trial involving Dodou Janneh, has, on Wednesday, informed the Bundung Magistrates' Court, where the case is being heard,  that he had closed his case with one more witness, an Egyptian surgical consultant from RVTH, Hazim Abdul Azeez Musa Fliff.

Testifying before Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara, Dr Abdul Azeez, who appeared as a police witness 9 (PW9), informed the court that he was a surgical consultant residing in Kanifing. He went on to say that he was a doctor attached to the surgical unit of the Royal Victorial Teaching Hospital in Banjul.

Mr Azeez stated that he could recall back in May, 2007, after been informed by the hospital administration a corpse in a chamber awating examination. He subsequently conducted post mortem on the deceased on 10 May, 2007, in the presence of a police officer, a camera-man, and two of the doctor's assistants, as well as two family members of the deceased, Sherif Minteh.

Abdul Azeez said the post mortem result revealed the extent of the wounds sustained by Sherif Minteh. During examination, according to him, there were some old scars, but he said, the new wounds discovered on the corpse could have caused his fallen.

At this juncture, the police prosecutor inspector Samateh  shown him the autopsy report signed by him for identification, which he confirmed before it was then tendered to the court as exhibit 3.

The case was then adjourned to Tuesday, May 20 for the defence to open his case.The accused, Dodou Janneh, who was represented by defence counsel Lamin Jobarteh and Lamin S Camara, was taken back to the State Central Prison.
