Wallidan maintain lead

Monday, May 19, 2008
Wallidan ease past Sea View with a hard-fought 2-1 victory on Saturday, at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium.

The victory did not only see Wallidan maintain their top spot on league table but aided them avenge their first-round 1-0 defeat by the bottom team.

Momodou Lamin Sillah's 20th-minute striker opened the scoring before Sainey Touray (Ballack) doubled the advantage in the 66th minute. Sea View pulled a consolation 86th minute - courtesy of substitute Mamud Saine.

The dethroned champions maintained the lead with 26 points, and even a win for the close contenders, Real de Banjul and Samger, whose games were in progress at the time of going to press, will still see them settle behind Wallidan.

In another Week Fourteen fixture on Saturday, Ports Authority drew 1-1 with Interior at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.

After a fruitless first-half, Interior's Assan Mbye blasted from spot to put Ports Authority behind in the 48th minute.

The Ferry Boys had to wait for the 66th minute before levelling through Saihou Gassama.
