Young Journalists  Association of The Gambia (YJAG)

The young Journalists Association of The Gambia(YJAG), a legally registered association with the Attorney General's Chamber in Banjul, was formed on the 16th day of  September, 2007 and launched on the 8th February 2008.

Amongst its aims and objectives are; to foster unity and understanding among all the young Journalists of the Gambia, address issues of common concerns among Young Journalists, as well as to facilitate the recruitment of Young people into the Journalism field.

Since its inception,(YJAG) executive members have been meeting stakeholders, media chiefs, and  Foreign Diplomats.

Presently, YJAG executives are on a nation wide tour of schools. And in its action plan for the year 2008, the association looks for   strategies to come up with a quarterly magazine, hold capacity building workshops among others.

The association also has a membership of over 150, out of which the majority are practising Journalists.
