Major Gano back as PRO

Tuesday, May 20, 2008
Major Lamin Gano, the former aide de camp (ADC) to President Jammeh has been reappointed as the new public relations officer of the Gambia Armed Forces, with effect from last week. Major Gano replaced Captain Alagie Sanneh, the military assistant to chief of defence Staff of GAF.

Major Gano has served in several international peace-keeping missions, including UNAMSIL in Sierra Leone. He has benefitted from various military courses.

Major Gano was once an occupant of the Office of GAF PRO, before his redeployment as ADC to the president and commander-in-chief of GAF, where he served for 15 months.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Aji Fatou Mendy has also been appointed as the new deputy public relations officer. She is the first female officer to occupy such position in GAF.

Commenting on this development at the GAF Headquarters, Banjul, Cpt Sanneh expressed delight for the trust and confidence bestowed on him by his superiors to serve in such capacity.

He also thanked the entire Gambian media fraternity for cooperation and expressed hope that this understanding between the fourth estate and GAF continues to flourish.
