Bravo GFA, Africell and President Jammeh

Editor,

Please, allow me space in your widely read newspaper to congratulate the officials at GFA for heeding to the calls of football lovers in this country. I felt extreme happy when I read on the Tuesday edition of the Daily Observer sport that the new foreign coach we have been crying for had already signed his contract.

I will not do justice if I do not mention how  proud I feel of Africell for their kind gesture. And for President Yahya Jammeh, we are not the least surprised for his latest act of benevolence. This latest act of his goes to emphasise how committed he his to the course of the wishes and aspirations of Gambians, irrespective of our wants.

However, I just want to through a word of caution to all that are involved in the development of sport in this country, that with all what government is doing, much is expected of us. This word goes for even the new coach. But of course, I want to reassure him that Gambians, through the flinching support of our leader, are sure of giving him all the support he will need to execute his duty.

And to the players, I say Gambians are watching. Whatever the government, GFA, or the coach does, what you do  in the field of play counts a lot. But it is important that we know that you need certain qualities before you get to the field of play. And these qualities will include discipline, hard work, focus and determination. I wish the Gambia good luck in all the competition we will be taking part in.
