Tuesday, May 27, 2008
President Ma Ying-jeou of Taiwan has expressed optimism for a brighter future in advancing relations between Banjul and Taipei.

The newly sworn-in Taiwanese presdent gave this assurance in acknowledging and thanking President Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh for his congratulatory message on the ascension of President Ma as the new leader of the Asian-Paciic Island state.

In a letter read over GRTS, President Ma thanked his Gambian counterpart for the goodwill message and lauded relations between the two friendly countries.

He used the opportunity to assure President Jammeh of his government's readiness to close with The Gambia and assured him of his highest consideration.
