Motivate teachers for quality education

africa » gambia
Tuesday, May 27, 2008
Jolly Phonics is a thorough foundation for reading and writing. It uses Synthetic Phonics method of teaching. The letter sound in a way that is fun and multi-sensory. Children learn how to use the letter sounds to read and write and to be able to express themselves. It should be taught in all Nursery and Primary Schools to facilitate speedy reading.

Reading is the basic to education. Without which there will be no Doctors, Teachers, Lawyers, etc. And if you cannot read, you cannot perform well in the other subjects in school. Phonics does not stop at English Language alone, but it also covers all languages. Even in the Quran there are phonics.

If quality education is what we need then teachers must be well motivated. Teachers should keep records of all problems affecting children and a day be set aside so that teachers come together with well trained professionals to discuss and solve problems that teachers and students are faced with. Professionals and well trained experienced teachers should remedy those problems.

There are good and experienced teachers in The Gambia and if they are well motivated, then they will work hard to attain relevant and quality education. Care for teachers and they will perform than expected.

Truly speaking, i am proud to be a teacher and also proud to say that our Proprietress, Mrs Harriet Ndow is motivating and encouraging her teachers and students and i will therefore urge all other educational institutions to motivate their teachers, as they have a great role to play in national development.

Some say "Operation Clean the Nation",

others say "Operation Eradicate Malaria",

and i am saying "Operation MOTIVATE your teachers". Encourage your teachers and more so "be proud of them".

An empty bag cannot stand. Please help teachers so that they can also help the children who are our future leaders.

Note to Teachers

Do your best and you will get the best

Deliver well and you will be rewarded

Don't ever give up, be proud of your noble profession

If it is given here, it will be given in heaven.

Take nothing too small. Work hard and God  will pay you well.
