Wallidan send title warning

africa » gambia » serrekunda east
Tuesday, May 27, 2008
Wallidan's tricky striker, Sainey Touray (Ballack), scored a goal in each half to help Wallidan beat bitter enemies, Steve Biko 2-1, on Sunday at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.

The hard-fought win, which confirmed Wallidan's double victory over Steve Biko, has also rekindled the Blue Boys' hope of clinching the coveted title they last won in 2005 - as they currently top the table on 29 points, 3 points ahead of the second best, Samger.

Wallidan were made to fight for an equaliser rather than a winner when Steve Biko's Habib Kunta's individual brilliance culminated to a pass to striker Ousman Badjie (Yanker) who fired in the opener in the 15th minute.

Forward Sainey Touray capitalised on a defensive guff to level the score in the 25th minute. The former Under 17 made it a brace in the second interval to seal the tie for the  Banjul club.

Elsewhere on the same day, Sait Matty-Africell and Ports Authority settled for a 1-1 draw in a fiery encounter played at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium.
