Thursday, May 29, 2008
A football competition dubbed "Samba Faal's Generous Trophy" in Banjulinding village has reached its final stage. The winner of this year's competition, which marks the sixth edition, will be known on Sunday, June 1, when Gerteh-Gi square-up against Young Steve Biko in a keenly-awaited final at the Banjulinding play ground.

Dilating on the purpose of the football tournament, Mr Momodou Rongo Jarju, a renowned musician and the organiser, said the competition is primarily meant to promote the culture of peace, cooperation and mutual understanding among the youth. He called on all sports-loving people of Banjulinding and its surrounding to come and cheer up the teams in Sunday's final, which is expected to attract scores of dignitaries including the Banjul Mayor, Samba Faal.
