Sheraton Hotel Resort & Spa Marks 1st birthday

africa » gambia
Thursday, May 29, 2008
The   Sheraton Gambia Hotel Resort and Spa,5-Star jewel of The Gambia, registers it's 1st birthday May 25 together with His Excellency, The President, Dr. Alhaji Yahya A.J.J.  Jammeh. It has been an amazing and eventful year which is not  surprising           considering the magnificent occasion of it's opening last year to coincide with the Head of State's birthday.

Proprietor Mohamed A. Kharafi and spouse, Mr. Ahmed Ahdab and high ranking officials of the Gambia  government and M. A.Kharafi Group graced the occasion which will surely be recorded in the annals of Gambian history.  M.A.Kharafi's love and consideration for The  Gambia is truly manifested in this $46M (Forty Six Million Dollar) investment.

This  magnanimous gesture steers The Gambia closer to the Vision 20/20 Tourism Development goals  of opening the country to high end  and up-market tourism. The      momentous opening portends well for the resort as Sheraton Gambia has been trail blazing since. The Heads of State of Zambia, President Abdellahi of Mauritania and Ernest Bai Koroma  of Sierra Leone and other dignitaries have graced its  portals.

The professional expertise, organizational skills and service  culture of the dedicated Sheraton  Gambia associates, honed and tested on numerous occasions are obviously well sought after.

The First Ladies' Initiative hosted by the Ministry of Health,  Departments  of  The Gambia  Government,  UNDP, WHO and other United Nations  Agencies, Gala Dinners, Banquets and Corporate affairs from the giants of the Private sector, Africell, Comium, Gam Petroleum, Total Gambia Ltd.,  Standard Chartered Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Access Bank,  SN Brussels, the  Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industries to name a few; society weddings,  international product launchings by Nivea and Reliance Financial Services; conferences, seminars and  workshops and training sessions have been hosted in succession at the hotel.

Sheraton Gambia's own Hotel Halloween Party, Ramadan Itfar  buffet, Christmas Party, New  Year's Eve Masquerade Ball, Valentine's Day, Easter Egg Hunt, Mother's Day and other memorable dates      including our regular Sunday Brunch bring joy, fun and laughter to our guests from abroad, the local community and diplomatic corps.

The awe-inspiring Presidential   birthday gala hosted by Gam Petroleum brought a fitting close to an awesome year. The Head of State arrived with First Lady Madame Zaineb Jammeh, daughter  Mariam Jammeh and guest.  His host was none other than Mr. Mohamed Bazi (CEO of Gam Petroleum) and spouse,  Mr. Bazi Senior, Business magnates and dignitaties from Lebanese  communities around the world.  The Vice President, Isatu Njie-Saidy, Speaker of the House,  Honorable Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay, Secretary General,  Mrs. Mba Jaiteh  and other Members of Parliament, Secretaries of State, Diplomatic Corps, Imams, religious leaders, high ranking  government officials, corporate executives, entrepreneurs, fashion designers and fashion icons  made up the retinue of Gambia's highest and mightiest.

The majestic Kunta Kinteh Hall gleamed with an extravagance that was only outdone by the  elegance of it's attendance. The ambiance spoke volumes on good taste and fine dining.  A  surprise performance by popular Senegalese artists Alieu Mbaye Nder and TiTi thrilled  the  illustrious gathering with  performance  of  their latest mbalax tracks. Sheraton Gambia thus closes one exemplary year but has many more surprises in store as it consistently and consciously delivers that Sheraton standard synonymous with its name.
