A former Taiwanese plenipotentiary in The Gambia has showered praises on the Daily Observer and The Point newspapers for their "indefatigable" support in promoting cooperation between Banjul and Taipei.

Dr Patrick Chang, who was overwhelmed with the support his embassy has been receiving from the country's main newspapers, made these remarks in an interview with the Daily Observer, shortly before leaving the Gambian soil for his Asian-Pacific island state.

Dr Chang said the coverage of Gambia-Taiwan functions by the newspapers accentuates the importance the Daily Observer and The Point attaches to the bilateral ties between the two countries.

"I have enjoyed working with you and we are grateful for the support you have been giving us," he said, imploring the newspapers to maintain the momentum for the good of the two countries and their peoples.

Dr Chang also lauded the acclaimed Gambian hospitality as "awesome", adding that this had left him with an indelible memory he would continue to cherish in years to come. He also thanked Gambians for making his three-year stay in the country possible and expressed hope to maintain his relationship with The Gambia.
