One Arthur Mendy, who escaped  from a lawful custody at the Kairaba Police Station, contrary to Section 108 of the Criminal Code, was yesterday sent to the remanded wing of the State Central Prison, Mile II.

But the police prosecutor Corporal 358 Sarr applied for an adjourned to enable him "prepare fully", as he had forgotten the case file the station.

Reacting to the application, Magistrate Mbake told the prosecutor that any case mentioned before him should be ready to be treated with diligence. He then adjourned the case to June 19 for the continuation of proceedings.

According to the particulars of the offence, on or about the 4th June, 2008, between the hours of 4.00 am to 5.00 am at the Kairaba Police Station, the accused person (Arthur Mendy, whilst under police custody at the said police statio, escaped from detention by drilling a hole in the wall of his cell with an iron, through which he escaped.
