Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, June 18, 2008

At least 22 students and for teachers, from Ardingly College, West Sussex in UK, have concluded a visit to various schools in the country; Kartong, Old Jeshwang Lower Basic School and St John's School For The Deaf.

Speaking to the Daily Observer, Mr Ian Colson, one  of the teachers that accompaned the students, said that they had arrived in the Gambia last Tuesday. Their purpose of visiting, according to him, is to share knowledge  in teaching song and to also interact with Gambian teachers and students.

He said that some of their students had never been to Africa and that in coming to The Gambia, they have learnt a lot, describing the visit as fantastic.

He disclosed that they brought some scientific equipment to some of the schools as well as some books and pencils, for the students.

Charlie Dumeresqua, a student from Ardingly College, described the visit as amazing as everyone in the country live together and come together.

According to him, they could see in the faces of the children that they really want to learn. "we will want to come back here in the Gambia and to also visit other African countries", he concluded.
