Thursday, June 19, 2008
A homicide squad from the Gambia Police Force has been dispatched to the village of Kuntaur, Central River Region, to investigate the alleged murder of the village Imam, Amadou Jallow, report says. The deceased was reported to have been attacked and stabbed to death, on Monday.

Contacted on this development, the police spokesperson, ASP Sulayman Secka, said the homicide squad is currently in Kuntaur on a mission of unraveling circumstances surrounding the killing. ASP Secka indicated that few suspects had been apprehended and that they are currently placed in detention, at the Bansang Police Station, as investigations continue.

"So we hope that by tomorrow, we will have a better picture of the situation," said the police spokesperson.

The late Imam Jallow is the latest victim in a seemingly incessant gruesome murder incidents, which have continued to leave many worrying.

About two weeks, the late Adama Sonko, who was in her dotage, was brutally hacked to death by one Morro Demba at the Niumi village of Berending, North Bank Region.
