Alleged rape case adjourned

africa » gambia » bundung
Wednesday, June 25, 2008
The ongoing trial involving Ekeoma Peter's, a Nigerian national accused of raping an underage girl, yesterday, suffered another setback before Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara of the Bundung Magistrates Court.

When the matter was called, Police Prosecutor Inspector L Touray told the court that the complainant, who was supposed to testify as PW1 in the case, is currently engaged in an examination. He then applied for an adjournment in order to enable his witness to appear in court.

In her ruling, Senior Magistrate Sillah-Camara  granted the application. She then adjourned the case to July 15 for the prosecutor to continue his case.

Lawyer Kebba Sanyang represented the accused.

It could be recalled that Ekeoma Peter is alleged to have attempted to have sexual intercourse with a teenage girl below the age of 18 on June 5, at Tallinding.
