Alleged mobile snatcher bags D20,000 bail

africa » gambia » bundung
Thursday, June 26, 2008

One Alasana Sidibeh was, yesterday, granted bail at the sum of D20,000 by Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara of the Bundung Magistrates Court after pleading not guilty to charges of stealing a Samsung mobile phone and D500 in cash.

According to the facts before the court, Allasan Sidibeh, on March 15, 2008 at Bakoteh, stole from one Fatou Sowe, a Samsung mobile phone and D500.

When the case was called, Mr Sidibeh denied the accusations levied against him.

Police prosecutor, Inspector L Touray applied for an adjournment in order to have time to bring his witness.

In her ruling, Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara granted bail at the sum of D20,000 and a Gambian surety who must deposit his ID Card and furnish the court with a reachable contact address. She then adjourned the case to July 15 for continuation.

It could be recalled that Alasana Sidibeh earlier faced a robbery charge before the Bundung Magistrates Court.
