In Farafenni armed attack trial Defense to file no case submission

Lamin Camara, the defense counsel for Abdoulie Sonko, yesterday, informed High Court Criminal Division, presided over by Justice Yamoa, that he intends to file in a no case to answer submission on the protracted treason trial involving Abdoulie Sonko.

Abdoulie Sonko is the last man currently facing treason charges of armed aggression on the Farafenni Army Barracks, which took place in 1996.

The defense counsel's decision follows after the state prosecution closed his case.

Justice Yamoa granted the application of the defence and urged him to file his submission on or before June 26 to enable the state prosecution  to reply. This would be followed by the adoption of the address of both the defense and the prosecution on July 10. AS Umar represented the state at the trial.
