'Career Guidance Day' at Unity Comprehensive

"It is not common to hear among youngsters that,am going to pursue a career in Law, Management or other professions, said the vice principal of Unity Comprehensive Senior Secondary School.

Akinboyo Alex made this remark during a Career Guidance Day which was observed at Unity Compressive School ground in Old Jeshwang recently. He stated that career is not just pursuing and developing a profession, but pursuing and developing what one does best or what one enjoys doing best in life.

"Career development brings about success which requires personal prosperity, winning admiration and self respect among others. Unity Comprehensive Senior Secondary is one of the best schools in terms of careers guidance to students" he said.  

For his part, Lamin J Ceesay, senior cluster monitor, Department of State for Education, expressed satisfaction about the students of Unity Comprehensive noting  that, students are well equipped to succeed in life. He adviced them to make right choices, a choice which will shoulder them to participate in nation building.

He added "since the world today is a global village of science and technology, I would urge students to have access to information technology as it would be an added advantage in your career" he noted.

Ebraham Olaniyi Ogantimehin, executive director of Stanford College Management also put it to the graduants to try to face the challenges ahead of them. He added that such challenges are obstacles which can only be tackle by dedication and devotion and then quickly saluted the Gambian leader for making education accessable to all.

Other speakers included Dawda Samba, a students from the School of Nursing and Midwifery and Alhagie Modou Jallow, a member of the Board of Unity Comprehensive.
