Shocking results marred  the Week Twenty matches of the GFA division one league last evening with Samger beating Real de Banjul 2-1 at the Independence Stadium, while Wallidan subdued to Bakau United 1-0  at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium.

The surprise results throw the title race wide open, with any of the three teams, Wallidan, Samger and Hawks, having the chance to emerge as the champion.

Two first-half goals from Sulayman Badjie and Buba Jallow were enough for Samger to keep alive their title dream, and in effect end Real de Banjul's hope of defending the crown. Samger are now levelled on points with Wallidan at the top, but the latter still enjoy a two-goal advantage, while Hawks, who drew 1-1 with Armed Forces on Saturday, lie two points below them.

Samger coach Jane Joof could not hide his delight after both fixtures went his way last night.

"Beating Real de Banjul here and Wallidan losing to their opponents at the other end is a very good news for us. It means that we can still win the title and we will give it our best to ensure that we take the title," coach Joof told Observer Sports shortly after the final whistle yesterday.

Samger will next face Wallidan on Sunday, July 6, and coach Joof believes this tie could decide the destiny of the title.

"We are meeting Wallidan next weekend and this match could decide our fate. So we are going to prepare for that match knowing fully that it won't be an easy match," he said.

Meanwhile, Week Twenty matches will continue today with Sea View taking on Sait Matty-Africell at the Independence Stadium.

Steve Biko will take on Ports Authority tomorrow at the same venue in the last set of Week Twenty fixtures.
