Bakau nawettan teams have scolded their sports committee for what they (the teams) described as the committee's failure to improve the standards of the game in the town.

As the annual nawettan season approaches, Bakau clubs fear that the current state of the community field may not allow a proper tournament this season.

Speaking to Observer Sports yesterday, Baboucarr Faye, secretary-general, of Saul Samba FC, said that Bakau nawettan teams will hold a crisis meeting on Friday, to decided the fate of the committee that is currently being managed single-handedly by Bakary Paco Dampha, first vice president of the committee.

"We are going to have a meeting on Friday to decide the fate of the committee which has failed us woefully.  The football pitch is in a dilapidated state and there is no perimeter fence. The dressing rooms are also in a very poor state and nothing has been done to improve the situation", he said.

Bakau, which claims to be the birthplace of the annual summer football jamboree, nawettan, is now struggling to maintain the standards of the game, as clubs call for the immediate removal of the incumbent sports committee that is headed by out-of-town Ebrima Jallow, commonly known as EB.
