Halake's case adjourned

africa » gambia » kanifing
Thursday, July 10, 2008
The sedition trial involving Dida Abdi Jallow Halake, the former managing director of the Daily Observer, has been adjourned to July 28 for continuation of the proceedings.

The case was supposed to proceed before Principal Magistrate Buba Jawo of the Kanifing Magistrates Court yesterday, with the prosecution witnesses expected to testify. No reason was given for the adjournment. But Mr Halake and the prosecutor were spotted at the courthouse yesterday.

The former Observer boss is facing two charges of sedition and giving false information; which are contrary to the laws of The Gambia. He had earlier on pleaded not guilty to the charges.
