Friday, July 18, 2008
Gamstar FC, the league champions, beat Armanti 2-1 to land the Super Cup title of Pirang on Sunday.

The Super Cup final served as a curtain-raiser for the nawettan proper which started in earnest on Monday with  fifteen teams participating under the watchful eyes of the the Pirang Youth and Sport Association. Addressing the teams shortly before the kick-off, Sulayman Gassama, who deputised for the director of the Jammeh Foundation for Peace, Ansu Jammeh, urged the youths to maintain peace and discipline during the course of the tournament.

He added that in any competition, there is always a winner and a loser, noting that teams should be ready to accept defeat.

According to him, the Jammeh Foundation for Peace supported the tournament since it can help unite the youths of the area.
