FSDC holds graduation and prize giving ceremony

Wednesday, July 02, 2008
Fajara Skills Development Centre (FSDC) on Saturday held its 7th graduation and prize giving ceremony, at the school ground in Fajara.

Mrs Jean Able Thomas, the principal of the school, said tha, the skills centre was meant to serve the female population but they have been dubbed biased. She added that after thorough examination, they are proud to say that they have six gentlemen in their midst.

"The wedding bells are ringing and so far, 7 ladies have caught the love fever, I am very protective with the ladies. If I had the power they would all be under my roof. As a mother, I have to let them go and it is with great difficulty. I pray for them and wish them blessings to enjoy the unison and I am confident that they would not be a liability to any man,'' she said.

She disclosed that in the hairdressing beauty world, fashion designing, sewing and cookery are names to be reckoned with. "As I always say, there is dignity in labour, with one skill their earning power is greater than the office worker's", she concluded.

For her part, Lena Otala, a graduating student said that the challenges that lie ahead, are for them to reach out and consolidate the dream that they first had when they came to Fajara Skills Development Centre.

"In order for that dream to come through, we need to aspire, work hard and implement what we have learnt and through that, we shall able to reach heigher heights", she concluded.
