How much tax are you paying? Welcome to revenue house

africa » gambia
Tuesday, July 29, 2008
MARKET BEAT would like to continue as usual where we left off weeks ago with our tax tables. Please stick with us as we try and get every working person covered and so that you are in no illusion as to how much tax you should be paying.

As the weeks roll by we will eventually get to your scale. This week we have the privilege to comb the following tax brands and figures.

We have just celebrated another July 22nd, Anniversary with a difference and it also witnessed the commissioning of the State of the Art building in the New GRA Building. This building among others will house all GRA personnel under one roof, it will also cut the bureaucracy and red-tape that defines most of our public institutions.

This modern GMD 42 Million Building known as REVENUE HOUSE will further boost the capabilities of collecting tax and revenue on behalf of government from GMD3.3 MILLIONS. The GRA has blossomed under the Jammeh Regime by registering GMD 3.3 BILLION from the GMD 2.2 BILLION it used to before the emergence of the AFPRC/APRC.

The amalgamation of the former Custom and Excise Department and the Income Tax Division has been more than expected success story in the Gambia, meaning a pure work of genius and dynamism.

The GRA is learning on the job and their elephant mandate coupled with a gigantic demands make them one of the most important if not the most important institution on the land . The GRA is presently housed in one of the finest artichetural buildings in terms of design, layout and purpose. The contractor (ALCO COMPANY) who built that GRA structure did a very good job for GRA and the country as a whole.

These are the beautiful days when we see where our monies go unlike the PPP era. I hope they will continue the good works they are doing and keep the fire burning in revenue collection. We also hope to see in the coming months and years a consolidation of the new grounds covered by GRA especially getting all Gambian TIN compliant and many more known to the public or not.

Market Beat wishes to salute the President for his dynamism, the GRA for the good stewardship of our revenue and taxes and the populace for the being a law abiding and peace loving kind and together we will and we can build this country.
