Sheriff Gomez, the new secretary of state for Youth and Sports accompanied by the officials of the department of state for Tourism, yesterday, visited various projects that are sponsored by Plymouth Banjul Challenge within the Western Region.

The day-long tour took Gomez and his entourage to the Siffoe Beekeeping Association Farm in Siffoe, Brikama Mini-stadium and Sukuta community mini-stadium, which is currently under construction.

Receiving Mr Gomez at the Siffoe Beekeeping Farm,  Yusupha Kujabi, the farm administrator, acknowledged the timely assistance of the Challenge, which according to him has lifted the association to another level where their products are now sold beyond the community level.

From Sifoe, the team headed for Brikama where they inspected a new volleyball court and pavilion that were all sponsored by the Plymouth Challenge.

The last port of call was Sukuta, where the team visited the Sukuta community mini-stadium, which is currently being renovated to suit the community's taste.

In all the places he toured, SoS Gomez expressed his readiness to work hand in glove with the communities. He urged them to properly manage the projects in order to sustain them for future generations.

Gomez heaped praises on the Plymouth-Banjul Challenge for taking up such excellent initiatives, adding that the facilities will go a long way in enhancing sports development in the country.
