Daniel Mendy, on July 7th, 2008 gave his evidence-in-chief in the ongoing land dispute involving James Peter Murphy, an Irish national as the plaintiff and Sireh Gibba, defendant, before Honourable Justice M Mboob-Janneh of the Brikama High Court.

In his evidence, Daniel Mendy said he knew the parties involved in the suit since 1975 and he also admitted that he knew the defendant through the plaintiff. He added that the two were lovers (boyfriend and girlfriend).  He further added that the plaintiff has a property in Mandinary Village in the Kombo North District, of a size of about 69m x 52m.  He also informed the court that in 2003, a fence was built on the said plot, adding that the piece of land was bought at a price of D120,000.

Mr Mendy further outlined that the plaintiff further sent money by cheque via the Catholic Diocese of Banjul in different denominations and at different times which altogether amounted to D360,982.50 meant for the construction of the building at the said plot of land. The case has been adjourned.
