Two college lecturers in courtTuesday, August 19, 2008 Two Gambia College lecturers, Lamin BT Sanyang and Abdoulie Baldeh, who were charged with giving false information to State House were, yesterday, arraigned before Magistrate Lamin George of the Banjul Magistrates Court. The duo pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them. Mrs Ndow identified the Lamin BT Sanyang as an English lecturer in the HTC programme and Mr Abdoulie Baldeh as a lecturer in both the HTC and PTC programmes. The head of school of Education said she was appointed to the said position in 2005 and that she inherited from her predecessor problems caused by one of the accused, Lamin BT Sanyang. According to Mrs Ndow, she tried to solve the problems of the accused but was unsuccessful leading to the termination of his services in March 2008. Mrs Isatou Ndow, acknowledged that she was once invited to the Serious Crime Unit at the Police Headquarters in Banjul in connection with the petition sent to State House by the accused persons regarding the alleged termination of their services. According to her, she made a statement there after which she was granted bail and her passport returned to her.
