africa » gambia » kanifing
Friday, August 22, 2008

One Dodou Bojang, a timber merchant, was, on Wednesday, arraigned before the Kanifing Magistrates Court presided over by Magistrate Buba Jawo, on account of a debt amounting to D158,000 owed to a fellow merchant, Ousainou Ceesay of Kanifing.

According to the particulars of the case, the plaintiff, Ousainou Ceesay, on 27th November, 2007, delivered timber worth D128,000 to the defendant, Dodou Bojang, who in turn issued a receipt for the said sum.

However, despite several demands, Dodou Bojang flatly refused to pay.

The plaintiff is also claiming the sum of D30,000 for breach of contract, bringing the total amount to D158,000.

The defendant, however denied liability.

The case was adjourned to September 10 for continuation of the proceedings.
