Friday, August 08, 2008
One Momodou Jaho was, on Monday, brought before the Bundung Magistrates Court presided over by Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara for taking money from Yusupha Trawally through false pretence.

According to the charge sheet, on 11 February, 2008, at Kololi Village in Kanifing Municipal Council in The Gambia, Momodou Jaho received the sum of D55,000 from Yusupha Trawally by presenting himself as the owner of a green Peugeot 406 car which he sold to the plaintiff, Yusupha Trawally, despite the fact that he knew such representation was false.

When the presiding magistrate asked if he was guilty of this offence, he pleaded not guilty. Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara, therefore, granted him bail in the sum of D60,000 with a Gambian surety. The case was later adjourned to 25 August, 2008, for cross-examination. Corporal 438 Njie represented the IGP.

In the same court, Momodou Lamin Saho also pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing when he appeared before the senior magistrate.

He was charged for stealing a bag that belongs to Tida Danso. The bag was said to contain some books. When his plea was taken, the accused person said it was a joke and pleaded not guilty.

Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara granted him court bail in the sum of D2000 with a Gambian surety.
Corporal 758 Sarr represented the IGP.
