NAM Oley Sey removed

africa » gambia
Friday, August 08, 2008
Reports reaching the Daily Observer indicate that Hon Oley Sey, a nominated member of the National Assembly, yesterday, had her legislative nomination rescinded.

According to reports from GRTS radio, Hon Sey's termination came following a decision by President Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, who was acting under Section 231(1)(5) of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia.

Ms Sey, a native of Banjul, was nominated to the National Assembly with four other members shortly after the 2007 National Assembly elections.

Prior to her nomination, Ms Sey was based in the United States for a number of years, before her final return to The Gambia.
