At least 1,000 people from Lower Fulladu and Janjangbureh Districts, on recently converged at President Jammeh's rice farm in Janjangbureh to help in the first weeding.

The people were led by the regional governor, Alhaji Ganyie Touray, the chiefs of Lower Fulladou and Janjangbureh, Momodou Lamin Baldeh and Bakary Jam Jawo and the farm manager, Kora Faye.

Speaking in an interview with the Daily Observer, Governor Touray commended the residents of the region for responding positively to President Jammeh's back-to-the-land call.

He described the turnout as a demonstration of their love and loyalty for President Jammeh. He hailed the efforts of rural women, who are engaged in agricultural production, noting that as agriculturists, they produce the bulk of the locally consumed food.  

Governor Touray challenged the youths to take farming up seriously as it is the backbone of the economy.

The chief of Lower Fulladu, Momodou Lamin Baldeh, affirmed their unflinching support for President Jammeh.  He called on the people of CRR to response to the clarion call made by President Jammeh.

The chief of Janjangbureh, Bakary Jam Jawo, urged the youths to learn from the actions of President Jammeh.  He thanked the people for their large turnout, noting that it was all due to the unity and cooperation existing among the people of the region.
