The young but "highly experienced" editorial team of the Daily Observer, under the dynamic leadership of one of the country's youngest, if not the youngest, editors-in-chief, Ebrima Manneh, better known by his sobriquet Ebrima Jaw Manneh, has been commended for its positive transformation of the paper.

Foday Baldeh, a lecturer at the University of The Gambia and well known newspaper critic, is one of those who have been impressed by the rapid and sustained level of progress registered by the country's biggest newspaper over the past few months.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Observer, Baldeh admitted that "there have been some improvements".

"The paper is becoming more user friendly, more professional and detailed. I want to commend the young people there," he said.

Baldeh, the former Mind Your English columnist, also lauded the setting up of the new in-house training programme for reporters.

He additionally expressed approval of changes in the general layout of the paper, such as fonts used, which he said makes the paper "more user friendly".

He finally revealed that his book, Mind Your English, based on the column of the same name (which used to be featured on the Daily Observer) is near completion.
